What's involved?

Inspire US 2024 returns this spring term to offer teams of students in Year 12 (or S5-S6) the opportunity to create and run local campaigns to improve community cohesion in their local area.

Over the course of three months, students will develop their teamwork, influencing and communication skills to produce a campaign that improves awareness and understanding of different cultures or tackles a political issue important and local to them.

On submission of their campaign results at the end of May, successful teams - selected on the strength of their campaigns, will be invited to present their impact to a professional panel of judges in London - the Finalist Forum.

Those shortlisted to attend the forum will be awarded a grant to further the reach and impact of their campaigns ahead of the final judging day in June.

The prize for the four winning teams is a trip of a lifetime to Washington DC to take part in ‘Campaign College’, where they will visit the capital environs, network with a range of experts and prominent speakers in US politics, hit the campaign trail in election hotspots around Virginia and Pennsylvania, and learn new skills to use in campaigning back home.

The dates for Campaign College in Washington DC are 30 October - 6 November 2024.

What do students say?

Inspire US has a place for everyone. It’s a safe place to find yourself and your values. It makes you challenge your thoughts and ideas through healthy debate. The programme really tapped into the more independent and critical aspect. I feel confident about approaching challenges with an open mind and enthusiasm.

This trip has honestly transformed me as a person, instead of saying no to new things I’ve learnt to say yes and to be more confident in my skills and abilities. This trip has alone taught me a lot more about politics, campaigning and in general life skills: how to cook, network, live with new people and to be independent.

Who's this suitable for?

This programme is available to students in Year 12 going into Year 13 in September 2024, or S5 - S6 in Scotland.

One member of teaching or support staff from each winning team/school will need to accompany their students to the Finalist Forum and to the USA.

Where is this delivered?

Virtual masterclasses; one day in-person Finalist Forum, 8 day Campaign College for 4x winning teams
