Barclays LifeSkills Ambition Unlocked
Ambition Unlocked is designed to unlock ambition and equip young people with the career readiness skills they need for future roles through the provision of meaningful, employer-led work experience.
What's involved?
This workshop offers a unique opportunity for students to visit Barclays offices in Northampton and participate in four engaging workshops.
During these sessions, students will receive small group coaching and participate in interactive activities designed to effectively bridge the gap between the curriculum and the world of work.
Students will get the chance to build confidence, identify their personal strengths and receive bespoke guidance from facilitators and Barclays volunteers.
Key highlights of this programme include:
• Networking with professionals at Barclays
• Building essential employability skills
• Gaining an invaluable insight into the professional working world
This programme also offers students specific support with applications to Barclays apprenticeships should they wish to apply following the culmination of the programme.

How long is each workshop?
Each of the four workshops runs across a full day, from 09.30am-2.30pm
Is lunch provided?
Lunch is provided at each of the four workshops
How do students get to the workshop?
The Talent Foundry can cover travel expenses incurred by students or arrange transport from local sixth form/colleges to the Barclays office
Do teachers have to accompany students?
Students can travel independently or with teachers
Do students have to attend all four workshops?
Yes, commitment to all four workshops will ensure students get the most out of the programme
Who's this suitable for?
This programme is available for students in Years 12 and 13.
To be eligible, students need to meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Eligible for Pupil Premium (prior to Year 12/Year 13)
- Eligible for Free School Meals
- Care Experienced
- Receiving Sixth Form bursary
- First in their family planning to attend university
- A young carer
