What's involved?

This two-part programme introduces Year 9-10 students to opportunities within the Faculty of Humanities.

This University Insights programme, created for students of Black heritage, aims to showcase the powerful link between humanities studies and career success, whilst developing core employability skills.

In partnership with the University of Manchester, participants will experience a blend of campus tours, creative tasks and personal reflection, allowing them to be inspired, informed, grow in confidence and to see university as a path for them.

This programme is designed to build key career readiness skills whilst unlocking aspiration and opening doors to a world of opportunity for participants.

Hear from a student:

I learnt more about my future options and decisions. I learnt how to build confidence to do things I wouldn't typically do. I learnt how I can adapt to different roles and job opportunities.

Hear from a teacher:

I've taken students on this kind of thing before and this experience was significantly more engaging. It was well organised and relevant to the students who attended. Staff were knowledgeable and warm. The student ambassadors were superb. The level of their engagement was exemplary, especially when compared with other institutions.

Students were also complimentary about the two events - they really enjoyed it. One student, on walking around the campus during the second visit said, 'I can really see myself fitting in here' and the people he had engaged with were his 'kind of people'. You can't get better than that!

Who's this suitable for?

This programme is aimed at Year 9 and 10 students of Black heritage.
