Supporting skills’ development and preparing students for the world of work
Students at Beckfoot Thornton School have taken part in many programmes over the years, most recently including Barclays LifeSkills, Enterprise Challenge with M&G, Rise, and KPMG Opening Doors to Opportunities. Each programme has offered the chance for students to thrive in different situations, as they face new challenges and develop key skills.
Whether staying at school or going out to visit a workplace, Rosie Beavers, Transition and Enrichment Lead at Beckfoot Thornton, described the sessions as “fantastic,” and her overall experience of working with The Talent Foundry (TTF) as “excellent.”
We’re proud of our team for making such positive results a possibility, and to celebrate the behind-the-scenes aspects of our work – from organisation to delivery – we asked Rosie to share a little more about what made her experience working with TTF so positive from a teacher’s perspective.
When reflecting more on her experience with us, Rosie told us that what makes the sessions so great is first and foremost their design and content:
Well thought-out sessions with a good mixture of information giving, question and answer sessions, written tasks and presentations/group work.
She also complimented the facilitators’ work, describing them as “personable” and highlighting their ability to connect strongly with the students while keeping the focus of the session clear. In summary?
Perfect!
Rosie, who has booked multiple sessions for her students over the past academic year, told us a bit about why she keeps coming back. She highlighted the quality of the process from start to finish, from our “concise and timely” emails offering free sessions covering a range of key topics and skills to our “excellent delivery.”
We always strive to go above and beyond to support our schools and students, whether that’s encouraging out of school trips to our in-office sessions or bringing enthusiastic volunteers into schools to take part in interactive programmes, supporting key skills’ development.
When asked to describe the quality of workshop facilitation and delivery, Rosie added:
It’s excellent. The facilitators are always positive and enthused by their topic and ensure that students enjoy the session. They are never rattled by timing, tech or behaviour issues.
Embracing change is one of our values at TTF, and our staff and facilitators are always ready to adapt to a specific school’s needs, priorities and circumstances. Whether it’s challenges arising mid-session or a last-minute change of plans, we do our best to deliver essential careers education to students living in under-served areas, fulfilling our vision of sparking ambition and unlocking opportunity.
Rosie would recommend our programmes to other schools and teachers.
