This week (13 June 2025) saw the second session of KPMG UK and The Careers & Enterprise Company's new modern work experience pilot, which is proudly supported by The Talent Foundry.

This time, students from The Excelsior Academy in London, spent the morning at HSBC learning all about tech, VR, and AR followed by an exclusive visit to the trading floor, before heading over to KPMG UK in the afternoon where they took on a cyber security client brief - all supported by brilliant KPMG UK and HSBC volunteers.

Students provided fantastic feedback from the day:

  • "It was very exciting seeing an office for the first time and the cool technology it had. I learnt what it's like to work at an office, and I learnt about HSBC and KPMG."

  • "It will benefit me when I finish school and am applying for jobs as I can put on my CV that I've been to both big industries."

  • "It has benefitted me by knowing that there is a simple (doesn't mean easy) path into finance."

  • "Meeting volunteers has built my confidence. It could lead me to working for KPMG or HSBC."

This cross-sector collaboration throughout June and July brings together major employers, including Mace, HSBC, United Airlines, Canary Wharf Group and Salesforce, to give students multi-sector experiences that reflect the real economy – and ultimately support the Government’s commitment to a universal Work Experience Guarantee.
