At The Talent Foundry, we believe every young person deserves the chance to make confident decisions about their futures. Our programmes open doors for young people, providing the skills, knowledge and guidance required to turn ambition into opportunity.
We deliver crucial careers education to young people in under-served areas across the UK, ensuring that our support reaches those who need it most. We also work with specific groups with additional needs, including:
- Students with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND)
- Students who cannot attend mainstream schools (alternative provision – AP)
- Young people in Pupil Referral Units (PRUs)
Programmes tailored to every need
Our programmes are designed to be flexible, helping SEND, AP, and PRU students build essential life and workplace skills. Many of our programmes can be adapted to meet the specific needs of participants. Every young person deserves the chance to grow in confidence and be supported in preparing for a future that they can confidently choose. Our bespoke approaches make this possible.
Delivering long-lasting skills
We visit SEND, AP and PRU schools across England to deliver fully funded skills development programmes. These workshops:
- Provide careers guidance and help teachers meet several Gatsby Benchmarks
- Allow students to practise CV writing and interview techniques
- Support career planning and financial skills development
- Encourage an enterprising mindset and transferable skills such as problem-solving, creativity and proactivity
By the end of the programme, students leave confident in their abilities and equipped with the knowledge to make the transition from education to the world of work.
Bringing the world of work to students in PRUs and AP settings
In Blackpool we’ve delivered several workshops for students at PRUs, helping vulnerable young people to dream big and expand their horizons is possible through tailored sessions and bespoke skills development.
By building a supportive environment and allowing students to grow in confidence, they could step out of their comfort zones and engage in interactive activities. Students enjoyed taking part in fun activities, learning about the importance of money and reliability and becoming more prepared for what lies ahead – and what that future might look like.
Supporting high-priority students in mainstream schools
Darren Barber, a teacher at Fairfield Farm College, a Specialist College for students with learning disabilities, reflected on his students’ experiences on our programmes:
The facilitator was amazing with our SEND students. It was great to see some of the learners that don’t always engage really keen to take part. The pace of the session, the level and delivery worked really well. The courses we picked were relevant to helping them with their goals towards reaching paid employment.
We deliver some of our programmes to smaller groups of high-priority students within mainstream schools, including:
- Students with SEND and/or SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs
- Students at risk of becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training)
- Students at risk of exclusion or facing significant behavioural challenges
- Students who are care experienced or young carers
These targeted sessions ensure that young people who need extra support still gain access to meaningful careers education and practical skills.
